Dyani's story
I don't know how long he had been carrying me. Minutes? Hours? It certainly hadn't been for days, but I felt as if I was in another world, a world far away from what I knew and what I had seen. But most importantly far away from any possible rescue.
Though fear still raged inside of me, exhaustion took its toll. I knew there was nothing I could do and our rough love-making, if it could be called that, had taken all strength away from me. So slowly I calmed down, my mind realizing that he wasn't going to eat me right away. But just when my heart started to beat in a normal pace again, my mind thinking rational again, that’s when I saw it.
The camp of the wolves lay in the middle of a small clearing. Well protected and hard to find, not that these creatures had to hide from anyone. The camp consisted of at least a dozen of small huts and some tents, gathered around an open place. I could see frameworks carrying skins and meat to dry. Wolves, both male and female of all ages walked around in the camp, some armed, some unarmed, some were even nude.
My fear again rose. It didn't take the other wolves long to notice the home comer. The first to greet him were a few of the children, running all around him, shouting and pushing each other aside, wanting to see his prey – me. Was this why he had left me alive? So he could bring fresh meat to his people? I shuddered and thrashed around in his grip weakly. He didn't even pay notice to my struggles. The other members of the tribe soon approached as well, and aside from my fear, I also felt embarrassment, being still nude and hanging on the hunters shoulder, they must have had a good view on my more private parts.
I ended in one of the bigger huts. The ground was cool, consisting of nothing more than tamped clay and some animal hides. The hunter put me down, then turned, not without giving me a last, long look, and left the only room of the hut.
I was alone now and my thoughts started racing again. Hadn't he been a bit careless? What if I escaped? But then, the silliness of my thoughts came clear to me: My hands and feet were tied together, I was nude and there was no tool in the room. How should I break my bonds? And even if I succeeded, how should I get out of the hut and out of the village without being caught, or worse, killed by those wolves? And even if I did get out of the village, would I even find my way back to my people? It was more likely that the wolves would capture me again, helpless, nude, lost in the woods. No, there was nothing I could do.
